Three Flat Roofs Updated With A Cost-Effective Overlay Solution
We were asked by one of our regular builder clients to help out a customer of theirs in Fordingbridge who was looking to have their flat roofs updated. After a careful inspection of the existing bitumen felt waterproofing and the timber deck beneath, we were able to recommend an overlay solution — a much more cost-effective route than stripping the roofs back and disposing of the waste this would produce.
The porch and garage roofs were simply overlaid with Alwitra single ply membrane, complete with new edge trims, giving both a fresh, fully weathertight surface without the expense and disruption of a full strip-and-replace.
The extension roof, however, presented an opportunity to go a step further. As well as overlaying the roof, we added insulation to thermally upgrade the build-up — improving heat retention through the colder months and helping to keep the space cooler during the summer.

Alwitra Single Ply Overlay With Thermal Upgrade
Rather than stripping back three ageing bitumen felt roofs, we overlaid each with a durable Alwitra single ply membrane and new edge trims — saving on cost, waste and disruption. On the extension roof we went further, adding insulation to the build-up for genuine year-round thermal performance, keeping the space warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
